How do I weigh copper oxide?
so my chemistry homework is to plan an investigation- I have already done everything else; the method, questions, variables etc.. but I need a way to weigh copper oxide to know the copper carbonate content in a metal ore. Had anyone got a clue how I can weigh copper oxide- I don't need to actually do it, just write how I would do it. I REALLY need help! 10points if I use your idea, THANKS :) xx

ok put the ore on a scale; write down the mass in grams!; then calculate how many grams of "copper" that's actually in the ore since you already know the copper content; then transfer the calculated grams of copper into moles then calculate out how many mole of copper oxide can be made from your calculated copper mole using the chemical formula
so if you have 50grams of copper for example you'd have 0.793 moles of copper for every 2 moles of copper you can make 1 mole of copper oxide. so take 0.793 and divide by 2. and we get 0.396 moles of copper oxide now you can multiply moles by the molecular weight of copper oxide to figure out its mass in grams.
