If I add a quart of oil to my car every 2 weeks, do I still need an oil change?
I have this old Honda Civic with just over 200k niles. I do not really see an oil puddle or any dripping when the thing is parked, but the stuff is going somewhere.
Every two-three weeks it needs another quart so would that mean there is no need to take it in for an oil change since it is getting fresh oil constantly?

No need. Your car has reached that stage in it's life where the most economical maintenance strategy is reactive. It is way cheaper to keep adding oil for the next few years than it would be to repair the oil leak or have the rings replaced. Your return on investment has probably long since been recouped, so every mile you're getting out of this sturdy workhorse is a bonus. Don't listen to the 'get rid of the muck' in the sump argument - at this age there's probably little extra wear 'n tear crap getting in there anyway, and what is is being burned up or leaked out. Also, if the oil filter gets too clogged just clean it. If the air filter gets too clogged just throw it away and run without one.

Just change the oil. Oil is meant to be changed, it is the single most important thing you can do to extend the life of your vehicle. The metal shavings and sludge are never leaving the engine without changing the oil and filter.

It is still a good thing to drain the scum and replace the oil filter every now and again matel
Old engines tend to get a foamy deposit built up and draining the old oil + replacing the filter gets it out the block.

I know someone with a supposed 160 IQ that told me he never changes his oil because he adds a quart every 3 months. Told him he better drain since there's prob a lot of sludge in his oil pan. He said I was wrong and bout 6months later he had a *car stroke*, sludge clogged his oil filter and he had no oil pressure. Luckily he shut down and got towed.
So much for 160 IQs.

What about the filter? I mean the theory makes sense ..a quart a week might keep the oil clean but the filter is still picking up all those metal shavings. Oil is only as good as the filter in this case,

Well, that's certainly a "glass is half full" way to look at it!
Besides the fact you're burning that oil, you'd still want to change the filter. But, you're burning that oil. I'd set aside some time and money to have that taken care of.

yess u do, because you gonna have to remove the dirty oil form your engine and if there is less oil in the engine then the car could go blank which means you arw gonna have to get an engine change

It still needs to be changed. When I was a kid my mother had a Chevy that needed 4 quarts of oil with every tank of gas - no exaggeration - so she assumed it didn't need an oil change. One day the car started smoking like crazy because the engine was pumping oil through the PCV valve into the intake. The drains in the head had plugged solid with sludge. The contaminants have to go somewhere.
Funny story - one day somebody stole the breather cap off the engine. My mother replaced the cap and the engine no longer blew the oil out all over the engine. Serves the thief right!

adding is different then changing it. when your adding oil there still dirt in the oil pan and the filter is still dirty.

If one bad apple spoils the whole bunch one good apple in a bunch of spoiled apples would not stand a chance.
I think you still need to change the oil... for an extra bonus.
